Since his time at Syracuse University College of Law, David has had a passion for Criminal Defense and made his career about representing clients in need. David prides himself on client-centered representation. He believes in the diligent and aggressive defense of the client’s rights and a maintains a strong commitment to the field of Criminal Defense. Early in his career, David learned that often with criminal matters, clients also need assistance with Family Law matters. As a result, David turned his focus not only on Criminal Matters but also on being able to provide premium Family Law services.
Before joining Nave Law Firm, David served for several years both as an Associate Public Defender for Madison County Public Defender’s Office and a sole part-time practitioner, focusing mostly on Criminal Defense, Family Court, and Real Estate matters. Through that experience, David gained valuable insight into the extreme difficulties those charged with a crime can face in the criminal justice system. He made his practice about continuously pushing for those who have been disenfranchised and has successfully resolved many hundreds of cases.
At the Public Defender’s Office, David was the Senior Public Defender for 6 Justice Courts in Madison County. There, he was often in the Courtroom, both at a local level and a County Court level. David has handled every aspect of a criminal case from arraignment through trial and has successfully represented multiple clients in trial, including at the felony jury trial level.
David is also very active in Family Court. He has successfully resolved many types of cases in this area of law and has a passion for helping clients navigate these difficult family legal matters. Family Law cases David regularly resolves include Custody and Visitation, Child Neglect, Paternity, and Support. Further, he is a trained Attorney for the Child and is a member of the Madison County Attorney for the Child Panel and diligently represents juvenile cases involving minors, including those charged with criminal offenses.
In 2016, David attended and completed the New York Academy of Criminal Defense Lawyers Trial School. He is also a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member of the Madison County Bar Association.
Why do you do what you do?
Quite simply, I want to help people and give a voice to those who may not otherwise have had a strong advocate by their sides during what is often some of the most difficult times of their lives.
