Can you really operate an e-bike
The recently passed 2020 budget for New York authorized the use of e-bikes and e-scooters, assuming their use is also authorized by local municipalities. While using an e-bike or e-scooter while impaired by a drug or alcohol is still strictly forbidden, similar to NY’s DWI laws, an operator of an e-bike or e-scooter can only be arrested for such an offense and subjected to further investigation, like a breath test, if involved in an accident.
